Scotland Lost Miserably in 22nd Match of U19 Facing the Striking Performance of Team Zimbabwe
ICC World Cup Fever is high on each and every cricket-loving individual across the globe, the 22nd Match of ICC U19 cricket world cup was scheduled at Witrand Cricket Field, South Africa On January 25, 2020 (Saturday), which was between Zimbabwe and Scotland. Both the teams were under immense pressure to win the game because of their unsuccessful encounters in the previous games and it eventually became a do or die situation.
Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sakhumuzi Ndlela, a very talented, fast bowler commenced the bowling attack and clean bowled the opposition and captain Angus Guy within the first 3 balls of his very first over with 0 scores. Then the chain of falling wickets started and none of the Scottish batsmen scored more than 11 runs although D Cairns did slightly better but ended scoring only 28 runs in 74 balls.
The last hope of Scotland was shattered by Luke Oldknow as he caught out the Scottish batsmen Kess Sajjad at the score of 68.
Eventually, The whole Scotland team was on its knees in 37 overs and gave a target of 141 runs to the Zimbabwe team, which could be a dream score to chase down by any team in the South African pitches.
The Zimbabwean top order opener Wesley Madhevere was caught on 14 by Ben Davidson which was a ray of light for the boys of Scotland. However, Tadiwanashe Marumani just swapped away Scotland’s winning hope by scoring 85 runs in 54 bowls, including 11 fours and 4 sixes. The rest of the efforts to clinch a great victory was done by Milton Shumba in 38 bowls and won the fantastic event in 17.1 overs.
Scottish players did not seem to be giving their 100% on the field. Thus, the target of 141 runs was like a piece of cake to the Zimbabwe team.
